Hi fellow bookish friends, Its been awhile since my last review. There’s been a lot going on; between surviving through a pandemic and switching careers, I haven’t had enough time to breathe. However, I am excited to be sharing a review of this gripping Psychological Thriller – Dear Child by Romy Hausmann.
BLURB:
In a windowless shack in the woods, Lena’s life and that of her two children follows the rules set by their captor, the father: Meals, bathroom visits, study time are strictly scheduled and meticulously observed. He protects his family from the dangers lurking in the outside world and makes sure that his children will always have a mother to look after them.
One day Lena manages to flee–but the nightmare continues. It seems as if her tormentor wants to get back what belongs to him. And then there is the question whether she really is the woman called “Lena,” who disappeared without a trace 14 years ago. The police and Lena’s family are all desperately trying to piece together a puzzle which doesn’t quite seem to fit.
MY THOUGHTS
It was so difficult to drop this book because of how gripping the story is. I raced through the novel at top speed because of the intensity of the subject matter. Moreover, the suspense was actually killing me. It was like an unbearable itch that I had no choice but to scratch. Dear Child has a thrilling plot that is guaranteed to leave your mind blown to a million pieces.
Hausman clever use of short and brief chapters ramps up the tension and suspense to exhilarating heights and her abrupt switch between narrators at points where readers think they are finally going to get a tiny piece that fits this giant puzzle was genius!!
Throughout the duration of the novel, I drew up my own conclusions and theories. However just as I thought that I had finally figured it all out, Hausmann hit me with the biggest curve ball of all time. I am still trying to recover from the shock. Friends, believe me when I tell you that you wouldn’t see this PLOT TWIST coming.
It’s been awhile since any psychological thriller gave me this level of the creeps. I applaud Romy Hausmann and I can’t wait for her next book.
Dear Child is out now and you can buy it here. I’ll like to thank Claire McLaughlin at Flatiron Books for sending me a proof .
Until next time! Cheers!

Hey this is somewhat of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.
I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding experience so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience.
Any help would be enormously appreciated! https://vanzari-parbrize.ro/parbrize/parbrize-mitsubishi.html
